About Waveshape Records

Waveshape Records is a breakbeat record label and was launched in June 2007 with the first release ‘Worth Dying For’ by Anti-Science & Model101 and featured a remix by established Dj/Producer Neztic (Sango). Worth Dying For gained much praise from Dj’s across the scene and had support from Aquasky, Dreadzone, Sunz of Mecha, Ben & Lex & with plays on London’s Kiss Fm & BBC Radio1 the first release gained much exposure.

Following on shortly after, the second release was ‘Vinyl Pusher’ by Barrcode & Youthful Implants with an Anti-Science mix on the b-side. Vinyl pusher had great reviews from the music press and with support from Freestylers ‘Matt Cantor’ and plays on BBC Radio1 people were taking notice of this new label.

The third release was ‘Pure Beam’ by Anti-Science & Youthful Implants. Pure Beam started out as one of Youthful Implant’s earlier projects that he took to Anti-Science for feedback on the mix and Anti was instantly inspired by the track. With a bit of reworking from the pair they turned the early version into an absolute monster of a track! Sunz of Mecha (Mechanoise) loved it and done the remix for the b-side and with support from Screwface, Control Z & good reviews in the magazines Waveshape established it’s self as a label of quality, dance floor tunes!

The next release was Waveshape004 produced by 601 (Polar Red) and featured an Anti-Science mix on the b-side. When we first heard 'Hit That Switch' we knew it was right for Waveshape! It had the energy and that little special something that sticks in your head (all the necessary elements that make a Waveshape Release) and it was signed straight away. Inspired by the original, but as always wanting to offer something different for the release, Anti-Science made his mix an epic, high-octane, melodic track that gained massive support for Radio1’s Annie Nightingale and was played countless times on her breakbeat show.

In December 2007 Waveshape Digital (WSD) was set up and the first digital-only release was a tune by up & coming Canadian producer ‘Critical’. With reference to the first Waveshape Records release, Neztic was drafted in once again to remix ‘The way I feel’ and this release bought us nicely to the end of 2007.

Waveshape005 - Control/Fire was the 5th instalment for Waveshape and was released in January 2008. Control started off as a tune by Spanish Dj Suko & Brazilian Dj Viper Brkz. It was sent to Waveshape as a demo and as soon as we eard THAT bassline it was signed, but only on the bases that Anti- could rebuild the track from the original samples to give it the high quality production & mixdown that people had come to expect from Waveshape. The second track was Spanish producers Bass & Funk’s Fire! Merging the lines of tearout & tech breaks ‘Fire’ received good reviews form the music press and full support from Dj’s across the scene.

Waveshape006 was released in February 2008 and featured two tracks by Anti-Science. Overload’ was the a-side and featured a beautiful piano with a nu-skool arrangement and bouncy bassline. The b-side was the techno-influenced ‘Electrowave’ with its many basslines and techno-trance synths. Support from Janet Slack (Mixmag) and Plays on BBC Radio1

The next release was WSD002 - Anti-Science ‘Get Hype’ with a remix from Critical. The original was a hi-energy bassline track with lashings of synth leads and pads. The Critical remix leaned more towards the tech-breaks sound. Support from Far Too Loud & Specimen A.

April 2008. The release of the new Waveshape Records - Shaping the Future Ep. is was released, and what an Ep it is. Featuring 4 cutting edge tracks by Anti-Science, Model101, Youthful Implants, Critical & Ceos and if that isn’t enough these tracks have be pressed on a lovely 12” Yellow vinyl!
